This $6.5 million project, which is five percent complete, is expected to be finished in early 2022. The old 12-inch cast-iron line, which dates back to 1923, was prone to breaking. It will be replaced with a 24-inch diameter line that should improve reliability, system hydraulics and fire protection along the Belair Road corridor. Construction will take place between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Ingress and egress will be coordinated and provided to all property owners within the project limits.

Demolition was completed by CSX in 2011 at no cost to Baltimore County, which assumed ownership and plans to rebuild the span. A new bridge is currently being designed with construction scheduled to begin by 2023. Negotiations with CSX have added to the length of the project.
