New Online Activity Search

The Department of Recreation and Parks now has an online tool to search for activities that your local volunteer recreation and parks councils offer.

Through this search tool you can search a general list of the programs that each volunteer recreation council has operated in the past twelve months as well as a a listing of the community recreation office's contact information.

As you peruse through this guide, please remember that it is general in nature.  New programs are regularly instituted, while programs with waning popularity are discontinued.  With this in mind, you should always contact the listed community office to get up-to-date information about the program.

The guide is available online at www.baltimorecountymd.gov/go/activities.

BOO!!! Haunted Attractions are Here Again

For a ghoulishly good time, visit our new Haunted House page for event times, locations, and directions. We look forward scaring you soon!

Learn about the Park Pride program.
Park Pride

Park Pride is a new program of the Department which emphasizes the importance of community involvement in the care and monitoring of County parks.  Baltimore County has been very fortunate over the years because neighborhoods have taken an active interest in their parks. Communities help the Department by assisting with certain maintenance, suggesting ideas for improvements, talking to children about the importance of parks and open space, and otherwise making sure our parks continue to be an attractive asset to the community.

About The Department

Established in 1949, the Department of Recreation and Parks is dedicated to providing quality recreational and leisure opportunities to the citizens of Baltimore County. Thousands of recreational programs, including individual and team sports, arts and crafts, social clubs and activities, and special events are provided through a cooperative effort with 44 volunteer Recreation and Parks Councils throughout the County.

Thousands of Programs

Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks works with the volunteer recreation and parks councils to sponsor a wide range of leisure time programs, activities and special events.  Whatever interests you or your family may have, chances are our recreation and parks councils have a program for you. Visit our program guides to find your favorite.

Hundreds of Facilities

The Department is responsible for acquiring, developing, and maintaining a wide range of parklands and open spaces for public use and benefit. A joint use agreement with the Baltimore County Board of Education and Baltimore County Public Schools also provides for the dual use of public schools as community recreation centers.

The Board of Recreation and Parks

The function of the Board of Recreation and Parks is to formulate recreation and parks policies for Baltimore County, holding itself responsive to the requested needs of all the county citizens while evolving a fiscal balance of programs, facilities, and park land.  The Baltimore County Board of Recreation and Parks meets the second Wednesday of each month, unless otherwise noted.

Additional information regarding the department is available by calling the recreation and parks public information line at 410-887-3871.
