Review and Make All Updates in Workday

Using Workday, active employees are encouraged to review and update the following 2023 information:

  • Personal Information
  • Address
  • Emergency Contacts
  • New Hire Enrollment
  • Benefit Life Events (Adoption/birth, marriage, loss of coverage etc.)
  • Life Insurance Beneficiaries

Please report any non-benefit discrepancies in Workday to your HR liaison. For benefit-related changes, you can update those directly in Workday. Find additional benefits information and announcements. Advantage ESS is currently only used to view and download past pay stubs and W2s.

Workday Payroll, Absence, Time Tracking (PATT) is Live

The first paychecks will be issued from Workday on Friday, May 19 for General employees (Pay Group B) and Friday, May 26 for Public Safety employees (Pay Group A).

Important Note: Enter your time into Workday when you are instructed to do so. In addition, any tax or direct deposit changes must be made in Workday only. 

Additional Benefits

Baltimore County Government Employees and Retirees

Effective November 1, life insurance beneficiary changes must be made in Workday. Historical beneficiary designations may be viewed in BenefitSolver.

Baltimore County Library (Employees Only) and Revenue Authority (Employees and Retirees)

Log in to BenefitSolver to enroll or change life insurance, Voluntary Long-Term Disability (LTD) or Commuter Choice Parking and Transit Accounts.

Pay Advice

Pay information is posted by the Thursday of your pay week. Previous pay advice records from 2007 through the current payroll are already stored in ESS and are currently available for your review at anytime.

Print this window.

  • Select the link below and login using your normal username and password.
  • The ESS window opens and defaults to the Home tab.
  • Select the Compensation Tab at the top left of the window.
  • Your Issued Check/Advices are available to view in the Issued Checks/Advices widget.
  • Click the line item in the grid to highlight a specific Check/Advice.
  • Click the page icon in the Download column to open or save your pay advice.
    • You will receive a Windows prompt to continue the download.
    • Open allows you to view and print a PDF of your pay advice.
    • Save allows you to save it to your computer then view and print your pay advice at a later time.
  • When completed, click the Logout button at the top right of the ESS window next to your name. Be sure to close all windows and documents.

Viewing and Printing Your W-2

  • Select the link below and login using your normal username and password.
  • The ESS window opens and defaults to the Home tab.
  • Select the Compensation Tab at the top left of the window.
  • Your tax information appears in the Tax Information widget to the right.
  • W-2s are listed under the View and Request Duplicate Tax Forms heading.
  • In the View column, select the attachment icon to open your W-2.
  • When completed, log out of ESS. Be sure to close all open windows and documents.

FMLA

Employees requesting FMLA leave must complete a Family and Medical Leave (FMLA) Request form (PDF) and submit the request along with the required documentation to the Office of Human Resources (OHR) through the Workday application.
