Severe Weather Status: Trash and Recycling

September 24, 2022 7:08 PM

Current Status: Trash and Recycling Collection

Operating

Trash, recycling and yard material collections are running normally; please follow your regularly-scheduled collection days for all materials (including the usual holiday schedule). Residents are reminded that each of the six collection holidays throughout the year now follow a "slide" make-up schedule. The second round of 2022 bulk item collections runs from July 8 through December 29; check your schedule to find your specific assigned bulk day.

Current Status: Drop-Off Centers

Open

All three drop-off centers are currently in service with normal operating hours (including the usual holiday schedule). Beginning April 1, yard materials brought to County drop-off centers for recycling must be contained in paper bags, or no bags at all. Yard materials in plastic bags will no longer be accepted.

What to Expect in Severe Weather

In bad weather, trash and recycling collection may not occur at the "usual" time, or even on the scheduled day. In cases of inclement weather, check this page or the County's severe weather page for collection status updates. You may also call our 24-hour customer service message system at 410-887-2000.

If your trash or recycling collection does not occur on its scheduled day due to weather related issues, residents' drop-off facilities may be open for you to take your materials rather than wait for the next scheduled pick-up. Please check this page or call 410-887-2000 before visiting any of the drop-off facilities, as they may also be closed in times of extreme weather conditions.
