Renew or Apply for a Rental Property Exemption
Some properties with six or fewer dwelling units are exempt from rental registration. To find out if your property qualifies for a rental housing exemption, review the Rental Registration Exemption Affidavit. If any of the conditions apply, complete an application for exemption as outlined below. Short-term Rentals are not eligible for an exemption.
If your rental unit does not qualify for exemption, you must register your rental housing instead.

No payment is required for a rental exemption. To apply for or renew an exemption online, you must provide:
- New Tenant Notification Form
- Lead inspection certificate (if the property was built before 1978)
- A valid email address
BY MAIL OR IN PERSON
Download and complete:
- New Tenant Notification Form
- Rental Registration Exemption Affidavit
- Lead inspection certificate, if applicable (see page two of application)
