Rental Registration Exemption
Some properties are exempt from rental registration. To find out if your property qualifies for a rental housing exemption, review the Rental Registration Exemption Affidavit (PDF). If any of the conditions apply, complete an application for exemption as outlined below.
If your rental unit does not qualify for exemption, you must register your rental housing instead.
Apply or Renew Online
To apply for or renew an exemption online, you must provide:
- a Carbon Monoxide Alarm Verification (PDF)
- a lead inspection certificate, if the property was built before 1950
You'll also need a valid email address. No payment is required for a rental exemption.
Apply or Renew by Mail or In Person
Download and complete the Rental Registration Exemption Affidavit (PDF), and:
- Carbon Monoxide Alarm Verification (PDF)
- lead inspection certificate, if applicable (see page two of application)
