A building permit is required for all new piers and pilings.

New piers must be signed off on by the building engineer. The building engineer receives any contests to the pier announcement. Contesting parties may email documentation of divisional lines or other information needed to make a decision to the building engineer at jbryan@baltimorecountyd.gov.

Required Documents

You must provide the following when submitting your permit application.

  • Site Plans—Engineer sealed, needs to show adjacent lots.
  • Posting—Required, if not waived by Building Engineer. View a list of approved posters.
  • Construction Plans—For piers only.
  • Data Sheets—For commercial piers only.
  • If property is located in the 3.3 mile radius of the Martin State Airport (MTN)—Airport Zoning Permit.

Army Corps and State permits may be required for the proposed construction.
