A gas permit is required for all gasfitting work.

Only a licensed plumber or gasfitter contractor who is registered with Baltimore County can apply for a gas permit. Baltimore County recognizes and honors insured-to-work propane gasfitter.

Guidelines

The following information is required when applying for a gas permit:

  • Pipe size
  • Total British Thermal Units (BTUs) for each gas fixture
  • Meter—New or existing
  • Natural or bottled gas
  • For proposed propane tanks on properties served by well and septic systems, a Contractor Certification must be signed and submitted with the plumbing permit applications.
