The Baltimore County Department of Health offers the following cancer prevention services and information for Baltimore County residents:
Cancer Prevention Program
Colorectal cancer is the fourth leading cause of new cancer cases reported in Maryland (following lung, breast, and prostate cancers, and excluding non-melanoma skin cancer) and the second leading cause of cancer deaths following lung cancer. The Cancer Prevention Program provides screening services for colorectal cancer for income and age eligible Baltimore County residents. Diagnosis and treatment services may also be available for individuals screened through our program. Colorectal cancer was targeted for screening services due to its impact on mortality and the ability to prevent, detect and treat effectively. All clinical services are provided by private medical professionals in the Baltimore areas and are scheduled by the nurse case management staff once individuals are determined eligible for the program.
Eligibility Guidelines
- Baltimore County resident
- Do not have health insurance that covers the cost of the screening or treatment services
- Meet age requirement for individual program
- Meet income requirement
The Cancer Prevention Program also provides education services for colorectal and prostate cancers. If you would like to request printed information about colorectal or prostate cancer for your organization or event, please download and complete the Literature Request Form (PDF) and fax it to 410-377-8104.
If you would like someone to speak to members of your organization about colorectal or prostate cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment please send your request to cnotaro@baltimorecountymd.gov.
