There are a variety of housing choices, but the most appropriate one will depend on an individual's finances, lifestyle and health. The Department of Aging does not endorse specific housing facilities, and this list may not be complete. Facilities still in the planning stages are not listed. Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRC)
Continuing Care Retirement Communitites (CCRC's) provide access to total care from independent living through nursing home care. These require an up-front fee plus a monthly fee. Some refund a percentage of the entrance fee if the resident leaves, some do not. Some communities provide unlimited nursing services as part of the package, while others may limit the amount of nursing care before you pay an additional charge, depending on the type of contract that is signed. CCRCs are regulated by the Maryland Department of Aging.

Care coordination is provided, assisting with arrangment of services that may be needed, including arranging a move into a more supportative environment such as assisted living or nursing home, if needed.
