About

The new Middle River Recreation Activity Center (RAC), in addition to traditional programming, will engage participants in the world of aeronautics. Aeronautics has the potential to be a gateway into endless recreational opportunities, as well as to introduce youth to a variety of career interests and educational opportunities.

The new Middle River RAC opened alongside Glenmar Elementary School and focuses on recreational, social, and wellness opportunities for residents of all ages. The approximately $10.2 million project was funded by a $500,000 state aid grant, $1.725 million from Project Open Space and $8 million from Baltimore County. The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on August 7, 2024.

Under the RAC model, Baltimore County's centers—in addition to athletic and after-school programming—provide expansive recreational, art, health, and wellness offerings, including for residents of all ages and younger children who were traditionally limited from Police Athletic League (PAL) programming.
