HOMICIDE VICTIM, 1981
On the morning of July 11, 1981, a father and his children were fishing on the Back River, about 200 yards off Virginia Avenue in Precinct 11 Essex, when they saw a dead body floating in the water and called for the police. Officers arrived and found the fully clothed male deceased in the water with obvious signs of trauma to his upper body. The victim would later be identified as 25-year-old Joseph Carroll.
