Suspect Commits Suicide Following Double Shooting

October 18, 2024

Detectives with the Baltimore County Police Department are investigating the circumstances surrounding a double shooting that occurred Thursday evening at approximately 6 p.m., near Deer Park and Wards Chapel roads, 21117. The incident occurred shortly after the female victim and adult male suspect exchanged custody of their 2-year-old son. As the mother and child were driving away, the suspect forced their vehicle to stop. The subject then approached the victim’s car and began to shoot into it, striking both the child and mother. Both victims were transported to an area hospital with gunshot wounds. They are in stable condition. The suspect was later located at his residence suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. This case remains an open and active investigation.
