BCoPD Peer Support and Wellness Team Sponsors PTSD911 Documentary Screening for the Baltimore Metropolitan Area

April 15, 2024

ORIGINAL April 15, 2024

Members of the Baltimore County Police Department Peer Support and Wellness Team are proud to announce the first screening of the award-winning documentary PTSD911 in the Baltimore Metropolitan area on May 15, 2024. The event will take place at the Rosenbloom Owings Mills Jewish Community Center, located at 3506 Gwynnbrook Ave., 21117. The doors will open at 6 p.m., and the screening is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. After the film, a panel of first responders will discuss mental health and wellness for first responders, the stigma surrounding it, and how departments are encouraging members to seek help.

The creators of PTSD911 pursued this documentary to address the increasing population of first responders suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It is estimated that 35% of police officers suffer from some form of PTSD, while 37% of firefighters and EMS professionals have contemplated suicide during their career. During the documentary, audience members will experience the complexities of trauma through firsthand accounts shared by first responders.

This event is open to the public. However, due to the nature and content of the film, the material may not be suitable for young children.

Tickets are available for $10 each with 50% of proceeds donated to the Baltimore County Police Assistance and Relief Fund.
