UPDATE January 12, 2024

Baltimore County homicide detectives have arrested 34-year-old Tavon D. Smith in the November 2023 homicide of 81-year-old Jaward Hannah. Smith has been charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence, and possession of a firearm with a felony conviction. He is currently being held without bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center.

The Baltimore County Police Department is asking for help from the public in finding the suspect who killed 81-year-old Jaward Hannah on November 10. When officers responded to the 3400 block of Kelox Rd., 21207, they located Mr. Hannah suffering from trauma to the upper body. Mr. Hannah was pronounced deceased at the scene.

On November 10, 2023, officers from the Baltimore County Police Department’s Woodlawn Precinct responded to the 3400 block of Kelox Rd., 21207, in reference to an unresponsive subject. When officers arrived, they located 81-year-old Jaward Hannah. Mr. Hannah, who had suffered trauma to the upper body, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

While the search for suspect(s) continues, the Baltimore County Police Department asks anyone with pertinent information about this crime or the person(s) responsible to contact homicide detectives by calling 410-307-2020.
