Detectives Pursue Leads in Woodlawn Shooting

UPDATE October 25, 2023

As detectives with the Baltimore County Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit pursue numerous leads in the shooting that occurred yesterday in the 1600 block of Langford Rd., 21207, the person injured remains in stable condition. At this point in the investigation, detectives do not believe this to be a random incident. It is believed the shooter was targeting specific individuals they had encountered earlier in the area. Out of an abundance of caution, an increased police presence can be expected near Edmondson Heights Elementary School.

On Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at approximately 3:35 p.m., officers assigned to the Baltimore County Police Department’s Woodlawn Precinct responded to the playground area of the elementary school in reference to reports of shots fired. Shortly after officers arrived, they located a teenage male suffering from a single gunshot wound in the general vicinity of the school. Currently, this case remains part of an open investigation.

Anyone with information pertinent to the case to contact 410-307-2020. Information may also be provided anonymously by contacting Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-756-2587 (7LOCKUP). Information provided by phone or online through Metro Crime Stoppers(link is external) may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000. Residents may also provide details about this crime and those responsible through the Baltimore County Police Department’s iWATCH program.

At approximately 3:40 p.m., on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, officers assigned to the Baltimore County Police Department’s Woodlawn Precinct responded to the playground area of Edmondson Heights Elementary School in reference to a reported shooting. Shortly after officers arrived, they located a male teen in the general vicinity of the school suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he remains in stable condition. Parents can expect an increased police presence at the elementary school tomorrow morning out of an abundance of caution.

As detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this shooting, they ask anyone with information pertinent to the case to contact 410-307-2020.
