UPDATE May 30, 2023

On May 29th, members of the Baltimore County Police Department arrested 18-year-old Jose Diaz-Contrenas in connection with the homicide of 30-year-old Javier Argueta. Diaz-Contrenas has been charged with first-degree murder, and two counts of attempted murder. Based on the investigation, this was an isolated incident. Currently being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center without bond.

Homicide detectives with the Baltimore County Police Department have one suspect in custody following an early morning shooting that occurred at approximately 3 a.m., Monday, May 29. Officers initially responded to the 5800 block of Baltimore National Pike, 21228 in reference to a reported shooting. When officers arrived, they located three people suffering from gunshot wounds. Medics transported two adult male to area hospitals with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. 30-year-old Javier Argueta was pronounced deceased at the scene. At this time, charges are pending as detectives continue investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident.

Homicide detectives are asking anyone with information about this shooting to contact 410-307-2020. Information may also be provided through the Baltimore County Police Department iWATCH program. Callers may remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward when submitting tips through Metro Crime Stoppers.
