UPDATE May 19, 2023

Homicide detectives with the Baltimore County Police Department have arrested and charged two suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of 29-year-old Shalia Hendrix on May 5. The homicide occurred in the area of Route 702 and Marlyn Avenue, 21221. While the incident was initially reported as a motor vehicle crash, when officers arrived on the scene they located Hendrix inside a vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Medics transported Hendrix to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.

On May 17, members of the Baltimore County Police Department arrested  29-year-old Rylan Harris and 28-year-old Darashea Gross in connection with the homicide of Shalia Hendrix. Harris has been charged with first-degree murder, first-degree assault, and firearm charges. Gross has been charged with first-degree murder. Based on the investigation, this was an isolated incident that centered around road rage. Both suspects are currently being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center without bond.

Detectives with the Baltimore County Police Department have identified the victim in Friday’s fatal shooting as 29-year-old Shalia Hendrix. While this incident was initially reported as a motor vehicle crash, officers located the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound inside a vehicle when they arrived. This case remains part of an open investigation. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact 410-307-2020. Information may be provided anonymously through the Baltimore County iWATCH program.

Baltimore County Homicide Detectives continue investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal shooting that occurred on May 5, 2023, in the area of Route 702 and Marlyn Avenue 21221. At approximately 4:58p.m., officers responded to the location for a shooting. When officers arrived, they located the victim, who had sustained at least one gunshot wound. Medics transported the adult victim to an area hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased.
