Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Courses

Logo of the Baltimore County Fire Department.

Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers

Through the use of an interactive video, mannequin, ventilation device, automatic external defibrillator (AED) and an experienced instructor, this learning experience will help the student attain a level of confidence necessary to calmly perform lifesaving procedures.

The course includes lessons and hands-on practice on the procedures necessary to clear a choking person’s airway, recognize and assist someone who may be having a heart attack or stroke, assess an unresponsive person and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to a victim suffering from “sudden cardiac death.” The use of newer technology, such as the AED, will also be taught.

Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be mailed a course completion card that will have a recommended renewal date two years after the issue date.

Caution: Performing CPR is hard work; not just in training, but also during a real emergency. It requires you to be on your knees and bent over a mannequin or patient. Persons with medical problems should consider their own health and seek the advice of their physician prior to undergoing CPR training.
