VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANIES
Baltimore County's 29 volunteer fire companies are independent corporations organized under the Baltimore County Volunteer Firefighter's Association (BCVFA).
Each company has its own board of directors and command structure. At fires and other emergency scenes, volunteers work side by side with career personnel under a single chain of command and set of operating procedures.
Baltimore County provides millions of dollars worth of financial support to volunteer companies each year. In addition, volunteer fire companies raise funds through fundraising drives, dinners, bingo and other community activities.
