The Department of Planning implements programs and projects that strengthen existing communities, revitalize older commercial centers and preserve rural resources.

NEWS

  • "This Place Matters" Campaign—The Baltimore County Department of Planning is participating in the This Place Matters(link is external) campaign. This national initiative, led by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, celebrates the places that are meaningful to our communities, and highlights their historic and cultural significance. We need your help to make this campaign a success by Friday, May 23. Learn how to participate through Historic Preservation.
  • School Impact Analysis Draft Regulation—The Baltimore County Department of Planning will hold two public hearings, one in-person and one virtual, on the updated Adequate Public Facilities—School Impact Analysis Draft Regulation.
  • Small Area Plans—The Small Area Plans(link is external) will build on the work of previously adopted community plans, Sustainable Community Area Plans(link is external), as well as build on the themes and goals of Master Plan 2030. Small Area Plan (SAP) 11 (Bowleys Quarters, Essex, Middle River, Rossville and White Marsh) is currently underway. The first public meeting was held on March 25 (at CCBC Essex) with a follow-up virtual meeting to be held on Thursday, April 10, at 6 p.m. These public meetings are important opportunities for community members and other stakeholders to weigh in on early recommendations and shape the future of SAP Area 11.
  • Reimagine Security Square Mall Project: Next Steps—The County has recently engaged Redgate Real Estate Advisors, an experienced advisory firm, to assist in guiding the next steps of the project(link is external).
