Ballot Styles for 2008 Presidential General Election

Important 2008 Presidential General Deadlines

  • The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming General Election is October 14, 2008. To see if your registered to vote, go to the University of Maryland Voter Registration Verification Web site.
  • The deadline for handicapped or elderly voters to change their polling place is October 14, 2008, however all Baltimore County Polling Places meet ADA requirements for handicap accessibilty.

Board Meetings

Board Meetings are held at this office the first Tuesday of every month at 9:30 a.m. (day and time subject to change). Please contact the Elections Board if you wish to attend.

Presidential Primary and General Elections

Primary - February 12, 2008 (Polls are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.)

General - November 4, 2008 (Polls are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.)

  • January 22, 2008 - Deadline to register to vote before Primary Election
  • February 25, 2008 - Voter registration reopens for General Election
  • October 14, 2008 - Deadline to register to vote before General Election

The Legislature sets primary dates, which are subject to change.

How to Register to Vote

Questions and answers for voter registration are at the Maryland State Board of Elections How to Register to Vote page. 
Instructions for application are at Voter Registration Application download.
Questions about Voter Registration may be referred to the Baltimore County Voter Registration Department. Contact the Registration Supervisor. Please include name, complete address and date of birth for new registrations and changes to voter status. Voters with correspondence requiring a signature or changes to status may Fax applications or letters to the Registration Department Fax at 410-494-2774. FAX only the correspondence.  Please do not include a cover sheet.  You may request an application to be mailed to mailed to you by calling 1-800-222-VOTE (8683).

Absentee Voting in the 2008  Presidential General Election

Voters may request an Absentee Ballot by completing an Absentee Ballot Application.  The applicant will be required to mail or FAX the application to the Baltimore County Board of Elections.  The FAX number for the Absentee Department is 410-832-8493. FAX only the application.  Please do not include a cover sheet.
Information and Instructions about Absentee Voting are provided at the State Board Web Site.
Questions about applying for Absentee Ballots may be referred to the Baltimore County Voter Absentee Department. Contact the Absentee Supervisor.
