The Baltimore County Commission for Women strongly opposes the Amethyst Initiative. The initiative supports the lowering of the drinking age from 21 to 18.
Each year, Commission for Women accepts nominations for its annual "Woman of the Year" and "Young Woman of the Year" awards. The award honors female residents of Baltimore County who serve as role models for other women. The winners of the 2009 Woman and Young Woman of the Year awards were presented on March 19, 2009.
