UPDATE (August 13, 2020 4:39 p.m.):

Baltimore County Police have identified the pedestrian struck by a CSX train on August 11 as Brian Michael Abshire (40) of no fixed address.

Just after 8 p.m. on August 11 police responded to the area of Pulaski Highway and Middle River Road, 21220 for a call of a person struck by a train. The preliminary investigation revealed that Abshire walked along the train tracks when he was struck and killed.

Police Investigate Man Struck by CSX Train in Middle River Tonight

Baltimore County Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian struck by a CSX train.

Just after 8 p.m. on August 11 police responded to the area of Pulaski Highway and Middle River Road, 21220 for a call of a person struck by a train. The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim, an adult male, was walking along the train tracks when he was struck and killed. The investigation is on-going.

A pedestrian struck on Eastern Boulevard late Monday night has died.

Officers were called to the scene on Eastern Boulevard near Kingston Road just after 11 p.m. on July 6 when the pedestrian attempted to cross Eastern Boulevard and stepped into the path of an oncoming Nissan Altima. The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk at the time of the crash and the driver of the Nissan did remain at the scene.

The pedestrian, identified as Stephen Richard Garrett (44) of the 2200 block of Redthorn Road, 21220, was transported by medics with critical injuries and died yesterday at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. The Baltimore County Police Crash Team is continuing to investigate the factors involved in this fatal crash.

The driver of the Nissan Altima has been identified as Richard Burlingame Willson, 71 years old, of the 800 block of Briar Hill Place, 21221. Willson has been charged with driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and bail has been denied.

Update: July 15, 2017 9:30 a.m.

The man who was pronounced deceased in the accident at Merritt Boulevard and North Point Boulevard has been identified as William Thomas Nowakowski, 68, of the 1000-block of Franklin Avenue 21221. Crash investigators are continuing their investigation at this time. 

Original Release: July 14, 2017 1:00 p.m.

The Baltimore County Police Crash Team is investigating the fatal pedestrian accident at Merritt Boulevard and North Point Boulevard.

At 7:29 a.m. today, a 68-year-old male was crossing westbound Merritt Boulevard when a 2009 Nissan Sentra traveling southbound in lane 2 on Merritt Boulevard struck him. The driver of the Nissan did not see the man as he was crossing due to slower traffic in lane 1. The driver of the Sentra stayed at the scene.

The name of the pedestrian has not been released pending notification of his family.
