County Executive Sends Letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar

Baltimore County Executive Don Mohler sent a letter to United States Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Alex M. Azar II requesting the location of any children currently held in Baltimore County as a result of President Trump’s order to separate children from their parents when entering the United States.

“Like millions of Americans, and as a parent and grandparent, I have been appalled by the images of children being separated from parents and housed in detention camps,” said Mohler. “Although not confirmed by federal officials, it appears as if some of these children may have been relocated to Baltimore County. I have a responsibility to the people of Baltimore County to make sure that these children are being properly cared for. We can’t do that unless we know where the children are located.”

As soon as the children and their locations are identified, the County Executive plans to visit the sites to ensure that the children are being cared for in a safe and secure facility.
