Title: County Executive Kamenetz Condemns Governor Hogan's Decision to Veto Paid Sick Leave Legislation

Says Governor is Putting Politics above Working Families

Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz today issued the following statement following Governor Hogan's decision to veto House Bill 1, the Maryland Healthy Working Families Act:

"Today, Governor Hogan made his position clear: he is putting political interests above the needs of working families.

Paid sick leave is a public health priority in our state. The sensible policy passed by the Maryland General Assembly would have prevented illnesses, increased productivity, and saved lives. With this heartless veto, Governor Hogan is putting the future of working families across our state at risk.

I hope the members of the Maryland General Assembly will come together to override this decision and ensure that Marylanders will not have to continue to make the impossible decision between keeping their job and following doctor’s orders."
