Range and Firearms Training

For Baltimore County Police Department (BCoPD) firearm qualifications, personnel will need:

  • Vests
  • Duty gear
  • Off-duty weapon—If your weapon is not a .40 cal, you must bring your own ammunition (100 rounds). This also includes any approved off-duty weapon for which you wish to qualify and intend to carry.
  • Rain gear
  • Uniform of the day
  • Light-weight jacket
  • Flashlight
  • Lunch'

In-Service Firearms Training

Review the following dates for qualifications.

  • Phase I Firearms of In-Service will provide students with several of the annual MPTC required objectives.
  • Phase II Firearms of the In-Service will provide students with additional MPCTC required objectives, including annual Day-fire Pistol, BMW and CEW qualifications. 
  • Beanbag Munitions Weapon (BMW) Re-qualification will take place during Phase II Firearms IST. This re-qualification is for members already certified to carry the less-lethal (BMW) shotgun. All certified members must attend one of these sessions during Phase II IST to maintain BMW certification. At the completion of regular Firearms IST, BMW re-qualification will be conducted.

TASER, CEW Re-certification

TASER-CEW re-certification will take place during Phase II Firearms IST.

Patrol Rifle Re-qualification

Patrol Rifle Re-qualification sessions are for officers certified as Patrol Rifle Operators. It is mandatory that each officer attend one class during each phase. These sessions are not a part of Phase I or Phase II qualifications.
