The Baltimore County police officer injured, while responding to a call Saturday night, was released from the hospital this evening.

The Baltimore County police officer who was shot, while responding to a call Saturday evening, remains in the hospital where he continues to receive treatment for injuries that are considered non-life threatening. We would ask you keep this officer and his family in your prayers. 

ORIGINAL JUNE 5, 2022 (3:50 a.m.)

A Baltimore County police officer is recovering after being shot while responding to a call Saturday night. At approximately 8:40 p.m., officers responded to 500 Virginia Ave. for an unknown trouble call. When officers arrived, they reported hearing gunfire. As officers investigated the origin of the gunshots, they encountered an armed person exiting an apartment. That person fired at officers; striking one of them. Officers returned fire fatally striking the suspect. The subject died at the scene, while the officer was transported to an area hospital.

Inside the apartment, the armed subject was seen exiting, officers discovered an injured person suffering from a life-threatening injury. That person was also taken to an area hospital for treatment. Currently, the Independent Investigations Division of the Office of the Attorney General is investigating this police involved shooting and the circumstances surrounding it.
