UPDATE April 18, 2022 2:45 p.m.

The Baltimore County Police Department had four officers discharge their service weapon during an incident in the Unit block of Avon Avenue, 21222, on April 14. Per departmental policy, we are releasing the last name of each officer, the bureau the officer is assigned to and their years of service.

  • Det. G. Depew, Criminal Investigations Bureau, 16 years of service.
  • Det. R. Johnson, Criminal Investigations Bureau, 33 years of service.
  • Det. B. Lange, Criminal Investigations Bureau, 15 years of service.
  • Det. J. Trenary, Criminal Investigations Bureau, 15 years of service.

UPDATE April 15, 2022 6:12 p.m.

During the police involved shooting in Dundalk Thursday afternoon, four detectives with the Baltimore County Police Department Criminal Apprehension Support Team discharged their firearm. Per Department policy, the four detectives have been placed on routine administrative duty. The suspect, who was injured, remains at an area hospital.

ORIGINAL April 14, 2022 8:39 p.m. 

At approximately 1:00 p.m., Thursday afternoon, Baltimore County detectives were in the area of Avon and Maryland Avenues in Dundalk attempting to arrest a suspect in connection to a 2021 homicide. During his apprehension, a vehicle on scene began ramming a police vehicle at which time detectives discharged their firearms striking the driver inside the vehicle. Officers immediately rendered aid to the suspect who medics later transported to an area hospital. Per department policy, the officers have been placed on routine administrative duty. This police involved shooting remains part of an open investigation.
