UPDATE FEBRUARY 10, 2022

Two Catonsville High School students have been charged in the shooting that occurred outside the school following dismissal on Tuesday. 18-year-old Sean E. Potter Jr. has been charged with attempted murder, assault as well as use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence. The other student charged in connection to this shooting is a juvenile. Both suspects are being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center without bond.

Shortly after this incident occurred, an individual arrived at an area hospital with an injury that has since been determined to be a gunshot wound. At this time, detectives are working to determine if this individual was injured during this shooting or an unrelated incident.

UPDATE FEBRUARY 9, 2022 

Detectives from the Baltimore County Police Department have taken several individuals into custody following Tuesday’s shooting, outside of Catonsville High School. At least one 16-year-old student was injured during the incident. As this investigation continues, members of the Catonsville community can expect to see an enhanced police presence in and around the high school. In collaboration with the Baltimore County Public School system additional resources will be available throughout the week for students and staff. In addition, members of the Baltimore County Police Department’s Mobile Crisis Team will also be available to provide support.

Detectives believe this was a targeted shooting that resulted from an argument that began off school property, earlier in the day. As detectives continue to pursue active leads in this investigation, anyone with information is asked to call 410-307-2020 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.

UPDATE FEBRUARY 9, 2022 

The Catonsville community can expect to see Baltimore County Police patrol units in and around Catonsville High School this morning as the investigation into yesterday’s shooting remains ongoing. In collaboration with the Baltimore County Public School system, additional resources will be available throughout the day to students and staff. In addition, members of the Baltimore County Police Department’s Mobile Crisis Team will also be available to provide support.

ORIGINAL FEBRUARY 8, 2022 

On Tuesday February 8, at approximately 3:00 p.m., forty-five minutes after school was dismissed for the day, a Baltimore County School Resource Officer reported a shooting in the back parking lot of Catonsville High School. The victim, a 16-year-old male student at Catonsville High School, was taken to an area trauma center with non-life threatening injuries.
