Suspect Identified in TU Shooting

UPDATE Sept. 7, 2021 9:50 p.m.

On Sept. 7, detectives with the Baltimore County Violent Crimes Unit arrested 19-year-old Samuel Nnam on multiple charges including attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, and second-degree assault. The charges stem from an early-morning shooting that occurred Saturday, Sept. 4, on the campus of Towson University.

Based on evidence collected at the scene and surveillance video, Nnam began to discharge the firearm he was carrying striking himself and two others; one of the injured a TU student.

Nnam has also been charged with carrying a loaded handgun as well as use of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime. Officers arrested the 19-year-old shortly after he was discharged from an area hospital; Nnam is now at the County Detention Center held without bail.

Detectives Arrest Suspect in Towson University Shooting

UPDATE: September 7, 2021 5:15 p.m.

On Sept. 7th, detectives with the Baltimore County Violent Crimes Unit arrested a 19-year-old accused of carrying out the shooting that occurred Saturday morning on the campus of Towson University. The suspect was one of the three individuals who required medical attention for a gunshot wound. Detectives discovered the suspect discharged the firearm he was carrying striking himself and two others.

This remains an open and active investigation. Video Sought in Towson University Shooting

UPDATE: September 5, 2021 2:30 p.m.

Baltimore County detectives are continuing to investigate the events surrounding the on-campus shooting that occurred at Towson University on Saturday that left three people injured. According to Towson University, one of the individuals injured during the unsanctioned event is a TU student. It’s estimated hundreds of people were in attendance when the shooting occurred. The area on campus is identified as Freedom Square.

As this investigation moves forward, detectives continue to conduct interviews and review video. If you have information or video regarding Saturday’s incident, detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit are asking you contact them by calling 410-307-2020.

Of the three individuals injured, only one has been released from the hospital; two remain in stable condition.

Towson University Student Among the Injured

UPDATE:  September 4, 2021 11:25 a.m.

Towson University confirms that one of the victims injured during the shooting is a student of Towson University and is in stable condition. The two other victims are not students but are in stable condition.

Overnight Shooting at Towson University

Three victims were transported to local hospitals after being shot on the Campus of Towson University just after 2 a.m.

The victims were at a gathering in the center of campus when the shooting occurred. The victims are expected to survive. At this point, it appears the shooting was an isolated incident.
