UPDATE May 8, 2021 8:22 p.m.

As Baltimore County detectives continue to investigate this morning’s active shooter incident, we can confirm four officers discharged their firearms in the 7500 block of Maury Road. Per departmental policy, the officers have been placed on routine administrative duty.

Body worn cameras recorded footage that shows what officers encountered once they arrived; footage shows one home was fully engulfed in flames.

Once officers secured the scene and determined there was no longer a threat, aid was rendered to those who were injured.

Officers recovered a handgun from the suspect. The suspect has been identified as 56-year-old Everton Brown of the 7500 block of Maury Road.

We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available. This remains an active and open investigation that involves multiple agencies at the local, state, and federal level.

ORIGINAL (May 8, 2021 3:35 p.m.):

At 6:40 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to the 7500 block of Maury Road in Woodlawn after receiving calls for a 2 alarm fire and an active shooter. Upon arrival officers encountered an adult male armed with a handgun. The officers neutralized the threat and rendered the scene safe allowing Baltimore County Fire Department to address the fire.

At this time, we can confirm that an adult male suspect is deceased, two adult male victims and one adult female victim are deceased and one adult male victim is suffering from non-life threatening injuries who was transported to an area hospital. No officers were injured during this incident.

The Baltimore County Police Department and Baltimore County Fire Department are actively investigating and searching the scene for potential additional victims.

Local, State and Federal partners are all involved in this investigation. Additional updates will be provided as more information is gathered.
