About the Commander

Captain Ivory K. Bing

Captain Ivory Bing is excited and eager to collaborate with the Essex community. He looks forward to building strong relationships with community members, listening to their needs and concerns and working together towards a shared vision for a vibrant and thriving Essex. Captain Bing believes that community engagement and partnership are key to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all residents and he is committed to being an active and supportive member of the Essex community. 

After graduating from Catonsville High School, Captain Ivory Bing joined the Baltimore County Police Department as a cadet and held the following positions:

  • 1999—Assigned to the Garrison Precinct
  • 2000—Assigned to the Scanning Unit
  • 2001—Graduated from the Police Academy and assigned to the Woodlawn Precinct
  • 2003—Assigned to the Community Drug Unit
  • 2008—Assigned to the Pikesville Precinct
  • 2013—Promoted to Corporal and assigned to the Dundalk Precinct
  • 2013—Assigned to the Robbery Unit
  • 2015—Promoted to Sergeant and assigned to the Criminal Apprehension Support Team
  • 2021—Promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to the Wilkens Precinct
  • 2022—Assigned to the Warrant Apprehension Task Force/ Criminal Apprehension Support Team/ Fugitive Team
  • 2023—Promoted to Captain and assigned to the Essex Precinct
