About the Commander

Captain Ivory Bing is excited and eager to collaborate with the Essex community. He looks forward to building strong relationships with community members, listening to their needs and concerns and working together towards a shared vision for a vibrant and thriving Essex. Captain Bing believes that community engagement and partnership are key to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all residents and he is committed to being an active and supportive member of the Essex community.

After graduating from Catonsville High School, Captain Ivory Bing joined the Baltimore County Police Department as a cadet and held the following positions:

1999—Assigned to the Garrison Precinct
2000—Assigned to the Scanning Unit
2001—Graduated from the Police Academy and assigned to the Woodlawn Precinct
2003—Assigned to the Community Drug Unit
2008—Assigned to the Pikesville Precinct
2013—Promoted to Corporal and assigned to the Dundalk Precinct
2013—Assigned to the Robbery Unit
2015—Promoted to Sergeant and assigned to the Criminal Apprehension Support Team
2021—Promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to the Wilkens Precinct
2022—Assigned to the Warrant Apprehension Task Force/ Criminal Apprehension Support Team/ Fugitive Team
2023—Promoted to Captain and assigned to the Essex Precinct
