Webex is an online teleconferencing system that provides on-demand collaboration for County employees and external parties via audio conference, online meeting and videoconferencing services.

All Baltimore County computer users have a personal Webex account. Please check with your department's management for any guidelines specific to your department's use of Webex.

Benefits

The Webex system provides a number of benefits:

  • Schedule meetings with up to 200 participants (24 video connectionsthat are in different geographical areas, saving the time and expense of driving across the County to attend meetings.
  • Online meetings can be attended by phone, computer or even a mobile device.
  • Video and screen sharing is an available option and allows all attendees to see one another and the presenter, or any other attendee's screen, if desired.

Protected Information

While online meetings are encrypted, Webex users should not share protected information via Webex, including PII—Personal Identifiable Information—such as Social Security number, date of birth, driver’s license, HIPAA-protected health and patient information, and CJIS-protected criminal justice information, e.g. NCIC data.
