Pregnant women must register before their 6th month of pregnancy and receive an initial examination and evaluation during their pregnancy to be eligible for our program. Limited treatment such as oral health counseling, prophylaxis (cleaning) and emergency services can be performed during the pregnancy. Patients who wish to continue in the program must contact the clinic within three months after having their baby. A comprehensive examination including x-rays, can then be completed and future appointments can be made for general care.
How Much Will I Have to Pay?
Fees at the dental clinics are based on a sliding fee scale which is set by the State of Maryland. There is a charge per procedure plus any laboratory fees involved. You will be asked to complete an income evaluation form and provide proof of income and residency at your first appointment.
- Fees are due at each appointment when services are provided
- Maryland Healthy Smiles accepted for children, pregnant women and adults qualified for the pilot program
- Private dental insurance cannot be accepted
Dental Access and Referral Program
Public Health Dentistry provides several referral programs for Baltimore County residents.
The Dental Access Program is a joint referral program between the Baltimore County Department of Health and the Baltimore County Dental Association. To qualify for the Dental Access Program you may not have any form of dental insurance or third party financial assistance and must meet financial guidelines. Those who qualify can receive a discounted fee for services provided by private participating general dentists and specialists.
Other Referral Programs
The Public Health Dentistry office maintains a list of dentists who treat residents who are physically and mentally limited, homebound, nursing homebound, and the general public.
These programs are available to all County residents. Patients can use these programs to help locate a private dentist for their continuing dental care after their course of treatment at a County dental clinic is completed.
