Cancer Prevention Programs

Once individuals are determined to be eligible for the program, clinical services are provided by private medical professionals in the Baltimore area and are scheduled by the nurse case management staff. The following services are available through these programs

  • Screening services (for income and age-eligible Baltimore County residents) or connecting residents with provider resources for screening services
  • Diagnosis and treatment services
  • Educational services

Program participants must:

  • Be a Baltimore County resident
  • Either not have health insurance that covers the cost of the screening, diagnosis or treatment services, or have health insurance, but services are subject to a deductible or co-insurance
  • Meet age and income requirements for individual programs

FOR COLORECTAL CANCER

Colorectal cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer deaths in Maryland. Everyone age 45 or older should be screened for colon cancer.  If you would like someone to speak to members of your organization about colorectal cancer diagnosis and treatment call 410-887-3456.

ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES

You may be eligible to receive screenings at no cost if you:

  • Are age 45 and over, or younger if high risk
  • Have no health insurance to cover the screening
  • Have limited income (Income eligibility changes annually and is based on U.S. government guidelines)

FOR WOMEN

The Women's Cancer Protection Program provides free mammograms, clinical breast exams and Pap tests for Maryland residents who are income eligible, and are not covered by health insurance for these services.

ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES

  • Maryland residency
  • Do not have health insurance to cover the cost of the screening
  • Women age 40 to 64
