WOMAN, 74, DIES IN DUNDALK DWELLING FIRE

January 23, 2025

A 74-year-old woman died yesterday in a one-alarm Dundalk house fire.

The victim is Janet Pereira, of the 1800 block of Marshall Road, Dundalk.

Fire crews responded to the 1800 block of Marshall Road at 11:50 a.m. for a report of a dwelling fire. Units arrived within three minutes and found fire coming from the front of the home. Crews learned that a female occupant was unaccounted for and began to search for her. The victim was founds minutes later on the first floor of the home, deceased.

BCoPD fire investigators have ruled this an accidental fire caused by the failure of an electrical extension cord. The home did not have working smoke detectors.

One firefighter suffered minor burns while extinguishing the fire.
