Baltimore County Fire Department is buying 26 new medic units -- an $11.5 million investment -- as part of an ongoing plan to update the fleet of transport units.

The order was placed yesterday with Atlantic Emergency Solutions of Hanover, Maryland. BCoFD expects to take delivery within 18 to 24 months.

More than 80 percent of BCoFD's call volume is dedicated to Emergency Medical Services. This investment ensures that our first responders have the state-of-the-art equipment needed to provide safe, high quality services to our communities.

These units are built to industry standards and include enhanced emergency warning lighting, power load stretcher systems and harness restraint systems for responder safety. They will feature our new black-over-red color scheme.
