Department of Aging Offers New Online Resource for Baltimore County Caregivers

February 19, 2025

TOWSON – The Baltimore County Department of Aging (BCDA) today announced a new resource for Baltimore County caregivers caring for a loved one at home. Trualta, an e-learning platform that provides education, peer support and coaching for caregivers, is now offered free through the Baltimore County Caregiver Support Program.

The new-to-Baltimore County platform helps families and informal caregivers manage care at home, using a library of resources based on topics that the caregiver can select according to their needs. Practical lessons come in a variety of formats including articles, webinars, and videos; care coaches and support groups are available for those in need of more personal interactions. Once registered, caregivers have access to the site around the clock.

“As a caregiver to two young children, I understand how challenging it can be to juggle multiple responsibilities,” said Heang K. Tan, director of the Baltimore County Department of Aging. “Beyond managing the health and daily needs of loved ones, caregivers often balance jobs, family commitments, and personal obligations. The mental, physical, and emotional toll can be overwhelming, especially without the right support and resources. We’re proud to offer this flexible, accessible resource that is tailored to meet the unique needs of family caregivers and support their wellbeing.”

For more information on Trualta or to register, caregivers can request access online(link is external), call 410-887-4724 or email caregivers@baltimorecountymd.gov.

Through a grant from the National Family Caregivers Support Program(link is external) (NFCSP), the Baltimore County Department of Aging Caregivers Support Program serves caregivers of Baltimore County residents age 60+ and older relatives over age 55 with primary-care responsibility for individuals under 18, as well as adults with disabilities between the ages of 18 and 59.

The mission of the Baltimore County Department of Aging is to strengthen lives by providing services, programs and connections to resources. For more information on the various programs provided by BCDA, visit baltimorecountymd.gov/departments/aging.
