Baltimore County launches Liberty Road Facade Improvement Grant Program

September 30, 2024

RANDALLSTOWN – The Baltimore County Department of Planning, in partnership with the Greater Randallstown Community Development Organization(link is external), today announced the launch of the Liberty Road Commercial Facade Improvement Grant Program(link is external).

The new Liberty Road Commercial Facade Improvement Grant Program offers grants to small business owners and commercial property owners located in the Liberty Road Commercial Revitalization District (CRD), which extends from the City-County Line to Pikeswood Dr. in Randallstown.

This program aims to revitalize the commercial district along Liberty Road by providing several small businesses the opportunity to improve their building facades, creating a more inviting and aesthetically pleasing environment for residents and visitors alike.

Supported with $430,000 from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development and $500,000 in County FY2025 capital funding, the program is designed to improve the visual appeal of businesses and shopping centers within the designated Sustainable Community Area, boosting economic vitality and fostering community pride.

Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski in late 2022 announced the formation of the nonprofit Greater Randallstown Community Development Organization(link is external), which is focused on building cohesion, a sense of place and a structure for economic growth, redevelopment and potential services along the Liberty Road corridor.

The Department of Planning will connect with local businesses in the coming weeks to share information and encourage participation in this transformative opportunity. An informational kickoff meeting(link is external) (password: grant) will be held on Tuesday, October 15 at 6:30 p.m. on WebEx.

The program will be managed by the Greater Randallstown Community Development Organization, ensuring a streamlined application and approval process for participants. Local businesses are encouraged to stay tuned for upcoming announcements regarding additional information sessions, application details, and deadlines.
