Recreation and Parks Board Meeting

Oregon Ridge Regional Park Master Plan Public Information Meeting

The Department of Recreation and Parks will host a second public meeting on Tuesday, June 14, at 6 p.m. to inform the community on the findings thus far regarding the Oregon Ridge Master Plan.

The team developing the Master Plan is nearing completion of its inventory of natural resources and assets, and the park’s existing recreation and educational offerings. Over the past five months, planning team members have met with many of the park’s users and supporters, listening to their concerns and desires for the future of the park. At this meeting, the planning team will share its initial synthesis of the inventory and preliminary analysis. Meeting participants will be able to weigh in with additional observations, information and feedback.

Millers Island Sewage Pumping Station

Baltimore County is progressing on a $3 million renovation of the Millers Island Sewage Pumping Station at 8819 Millers Island Road. A sewer bypass was installed on October 22 in preparation for the project, which includes extensive electrical and mechanical work in addition to a new roof and generator. The renovation of this two-pump station is expected to be completed this year; it is 69 percent toward that goal.

Turkey Point Pumping Station Rehabilitation

Baltimore County has begun renovating the Turkey Point Sewage Pumping Station. It is 96 percent complete and is expected to be finished in June. The cost is $3.2 million.

Bread and Cheese Sewer Improvements

Baltimore County has started relining 26,000 feet of eight-inch diameter sewer pipe in the Bread and Cheese Creek area. The improvement project is 97 percent complete. (Some additional work was recently added to the contract.) When finished, it will cost $2.25 million.

St. Helena Water Main Project

Baltimore County began replacing 13,600 feet of failing cast-iron water pipe in November on St. Helena Avenue (from the City Line to Dundalk Avenue) and in the area between Oak Avenue and Maple Avenue. The project will cost $5.5 million and is expected to be completed by the fall. Crews began working following mobilization in February. It is 20 percent toward its completion goal.

Gray Manor Sewershed Structural Rehabilitation

Baltimore County contractors began an extensive rehabilitation of the Gray Manor Sewershed in December 2020. Crews are relining 37,369 feet of eight-inch and 36-inch sewer pipe in a project that is anticipated to take more than a year to complete. The project is 95 percent complete.
