EPS Variances

The Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability (EPS) publishes a list of the environmental administrative variance requests along with their status. The requests are listed by County Council District.

Recreation and Parks Board Meeting

The Baltimore County Board of Recreation and Parks will meet on Wednesday, April 13 at 6 p.m. at the Southeast Regional Recreation Center, 4021 North Point Boulevard, Dundalk, Maryland 21222. Groundbreaking for Baltimore County’s First Destination Playground

Join us for a groundbreaking for Baltimore County’s first Destination Playground, in partnership with the Baltimore Ravens, at Northwest Regional Park. This event will take place on Friday, April 1 at 10 a.m. with special guests County Executive Johnny Olszewski, County Council Chair Julian Jones, Roslyn Johnson, Director, Department of Recreation and Parks, and Heather Darney, Vice President of Community Relations, Baltimore Ravens. Please use the Lyons Mill Road entrance.

Tennis and Pickleball Court Modifications Public Input Meeting

The Department of Recreation and Parks will host a virtual meeting on Tuesday, April 12 at 6 p.m. to gather public input regarding tennis and pickleball courts. There will be a short presentation by the department followed by time for questions and comments from the public.

Ribbon Cutting for Boat Launch Pier and Deck at Loch Raven Fishing Center

Join us for a ribbon cutting ceremony at Loch Raven Fishing Center. In time for the 2022 boating season, Baltimore County has completed the replacement of the boat launch pier and deck. Repairs were also made to the rental boat pier and existing paths. These improvements allow the public to further enjoy Loch Raven Reservoir. This event will take place on Friday, April 22 at 11 a.m., with special guests County Executive Johnny Olszewski, Councilman Wade Kach, and Roslyn Johnson, Director of Recreation and Parks. 

Loch Raven Fishing Center is located at 12101 Dulaney Valley Road, Phoenix, Maryland 21131.

Essex Eastern Boulevard Commercial Revitalization Technical Assistance Panel

The Eastern Baltimore County Task Force is working with Baltimore County and the State of Maryland to help revitalize the Essex Commercial District. The Task Force has engaged the Urban Land Institute to host a Technical Assistance Panel (TAP) from April 4 to 6 that will develop creative, actionable solutions to complex structural and economic development challenges in Essex.

East Point Relief Sewer

Baltimore County is constructing a relief sewer in East Point. The line is 1,400 feet in length and will cost about $1 million. The project began in October and is now substantially complete. The system is functioning; repaving is being planned.

Millers Island Sewage Pumping Station

Baltimore County is beginning a $3 million renovation of the Millers Island Sewage Pumping Station at 8819 Millers Island Road. A sewer bypass was installed on October 22 in preparation for the project, which includes extensive electrical and mechanical work in addition to a new roof and generator. The renovation of this two-pump station is expected to be completed this year; it is 31 percent toward that goal.

Turkey Point Pumping Station Rehabilitation

Baltimore County has begun renovating the Turkey Point Sewage Pumping Station. It is 80 percent complete and is expected to be finished in June. The cost is $3.2 million.

Bread and Cheese Sewer Improvements

Baltimore County has started relining 13,000 feet of eight-inch diameter sewer pipe in the Bread and Cheese Creek area. The improvement project is 90 percent complete. (Some additional work was recently added to the contract.) When finished, it will cost $2.25 million.

St. Helena Water Main Project

Baltimore County began replacing 13,600 feet of failing cast-iron water pipe in November on St. Helena Avenue (from the City Line to Dundalk Avenue) and in the area between Oak Avenue and Maple Avenue. The project will cost $5.5 million and is expected to be completed by the fall. Crews began working following mobilization in February.

Gray Manor Sewershed Structural Rehabilitation

Baltimore County contractors began an extensive rehabilitation of the Gray Manor Sewershed in December 2020. Crews are relining 37,369 feet of eight-inch and 36-inch sewer pipe in a project that is anticipated to take more than a year to complete. The project is 90 percent complete.

Blenhurst Pumping Station

The Department of Public Works and Transportation has been renovating the Blenhurst Sewage Pumping Station at 8345 Bletzer Road. The project is 94 percent complete and will cost $2,633,500.
