Recreation and Parks Board Meeting

The Board of Recreation and Parks will meet on Wednesday, May 11, at 6 p.m. in the pavilion at Angel Park, 9675 Honeygo Boulevard, Perry Hall, Maryland 21128. This meeting location is dependent upon the weather. If we need to move indoors, the meeting will be held at Honeygo Run Regional Park, 9033 Honeygo Boulevard, Perry Hall, Maryland 21128.

Informational Meeting: Go Ape USA

The Department of Recreation and Parks will host a virtual meeting on Thursday, May 12 at 6 p.m. to introduce Go Ape USA and the idea of bringing them into Baltimore County. After a short introduction, Go Ape USA will make a brief presentation describing their company and the exciting activities they provide. There will be opportunity for questions, answers and comments after the presentation.

Bridge Repair

Baltimore County has started repairs to Bridge B-0109 (Old Court Road over Scotts Level Branch). The work is approximately 40 percent complete and is expected to be finished in May. The project will primarily replace the roadway surface and repair some substructure. Repairs to the two-lane concrete slab bridge are expected to take about six months and cost $700,000. During construction, the road will not be closed.

New Water Line on Reisterstown Road

Baltimore County is installing a new 36-inch diameter water line on Reisterstown Road between Rosewood Avenue and Pleasant Hill Road. Work on the new supply main, designed to serve the Owings Mills and Reisterstown area, is 99 percent complete. Tie-ins to the line have been completed. The cost is about $9 million.

Rehabilitation for Old Court Road Bridge

Baltimore County began rehabilitating the 50-foot long Old Court Road Bridge over Bens Run (Bridge B-0237) near Northwest Hospital in March. Substructure repairs have begun. The project, which will cost $2 million, will include replacing beams and sidewalks. The project, which is 25 percent complete, is expected to be finished in early 2023 or possibly by the end of this year. Traffic will be maintained during construction.

  1. Variance Number 3 from prior case: To allow minimum 23-foot setback from a building face to tract boundary in lieu of the required 30 feet for side building face (setback was previously approved at six feet for side building face);
  2. Variance Number 5 from prior case: To allow a five-foot setback from a building face to edge of private road in lieu of the required 35 feet;
  3. Variance Number 7 from prior case: To allow a maximum building height of 70 feet in lieu of the permitted 60 feet.

Variance: Baltimore County Zoning Regulations, Sections 504.2 and 1B01.2.B.2, and the Comprehensive Manual of Development Policies, Division II, Section A: to allow a maximum building length of 500 feet in lieu of the maximum permitted 240 feet and previously approved building length of 265 feet.
