Water Line on Reisterstown Road (Designated Phase II)

Baltimore County is installing a new 36-inch diameter water line on Reisterstown Road between Rosewood Avenue and Pleasant Hill Road (designated Phase II). Work on the new supply main, designed to serve the Owings Mills and Reisterstown area, is 99 percent complete. Work is near completion and is in the punch-list stage. The cost is about $9 million.

Reisterstown Road Water Main Project (Designated Phase III)

Baltimore County has begun a major water main project, replacing 16,000 feet of line in Reisterstown Road between Pleasant Hill Road and Stocksdale Avenue. The three miles of new 16- and 20-inch diameter line is 30 percent complete and is scheduled to be finished in the spring of 2024.

Information: Email engineering@baltimorecountymd.gov.

Pedestrian Study for Pikesville

The Pikesville Pedestrian Study was completed in the spring. The study assesses pedestrian conditions and develops designs to accommodate walkers, drivers and cyclists. Recommendations have been categorized into short-, medium- and long-term solutions. They are being reviewed to determine feasibility of costs and implementation. This summer, the Department of Public Works and Transportation expects to implement some short-term recommendations suggested from the Pedestrian Study. These recommendations include clearing roadside growth to permit greater sight distance, upgrading sidewalks and installing some new sidewalks for Stevenson Road. The Smith Avenue crosswalk at the intersection with Pebble Brooke Road is scheduled for construction as recommended by the consultants. The project will take two days and will cost $12,000.

Information: Email engineering@baltimorecountymd.gov.

Water Line Construction on Falls Road

The Department of Public Works and Transportation is replacing more than 11,000 feet of water line on Falls Road between the Baltimore City line and Brightfield Road near Interstate 695. The project, which will cost approximately $10,500,000, is about two percent complete. The entire project will require approximately two years to complete. The replacement of the line—sections of which are more than 90 years old—will improve the reliability of the system. Much of the construction will be done between 9 a.m. and 5 a.m., and ingress and egress will be coordinated with (and provided for) all property owners. Falls Road will not be closed during construction, but there will be some lane closures during the day to accommodate construction schedules. Falls Road carries about 18,000 cars daily. There will be traffic delays. The Maryland Cycling Classic Race will require closing the road on Sunday, September 4.
