Groundbreaking for Baltimore County’s First Destination Playground

Join us for a groundbreaking for Baltimore County’s first Destination Playground, in partnership with the Baltimore Ravens, at Northwest Regional Park. This event will take place on Friday, April 1 at 10 a.m. with special guests County Executive Johnny Olszewski, County Council Chair Julian Jones, Roslyn Johnson, Director, Department of Recreation and Parks, and Heather Darney, Vice President of Community Relations, Baltimore Ravens. Please use the Lyons Mill Road entrance.

Tennis and Pickleball Court Modifications Public Input Meeting

The Department of Recreation and Parks will host a virtual meeting on Tuesday, April 12 at 6 p.m. to gather public input regarding tennis and pickleball courts. There will be a short presentation by the department followed by time for questions and comments from the public.

Ribbon Cutting for Boat Launch Pier and Deck at Loch Raven Fishing Center

Join us for a ribbon cutting ceremony at Loch Raven Fishing Center. In time for the 2022 boating season, Baltimore County has completed the replacement of the boat launch pier and deck. Repairs were also made to the rental boat pier and existing paths. These improvements allow the public to further enjoy Loch Raven Reservoir. This event will take place on Friday, April 22 at 11 a.m., with special guests County Executive Johnny Olszewski, Councilman Wade Kach, and Roslyn Johnson, Director of Recreation and Parks.

Essex Eastern Boulevard Commercial Revitalization Technical Assistance Panel

The Eastern Baltimore County Task Force is working with Baltimore County and the State of Maryland to help revitalize the Essex Commercial District. The Task Force has engaged the Urban Land Institute to host a Technical Assistance Panel (TAP) from April 4 to 6 that will develop creative, actionable solutions to complex structural and economic development challenges in Essex.

Cedar Branch North Fork Relief Sewer

Baltimore County started work in February on the Cedar Branch North Fork Relief Sewer, located in the area of Johnnycake Road off of Rolling Road. Construction of 5,200 feet of 12-inch diameter pipe, costing approximately $3.4 million, will take 14 months. The project is about 15 percent complete.

Water Main Replacement

Baltimore County is replacing 11,500 feet of eight-inch water main on Johnnycake Road south of Interstate 70. Preliminary work began in October. It is now eight percent complete. Crews are preparing to install a bypass. Completion is expected in approximately two years. The cost is $3,152,179.

Sewer Rehabilitation in Catonsville

Baltimore County is rehabilitating more than 60,000 feet of sanitary sewer line in Catonsville. Work started in late August and is about 42 percent complete. The cleaning and lining project, which is expected to be finished before the end of next year, will cost $4 million. Crews from the County's contractor (SAK Construction) will be working in the neighborhood east of North Rolling Road and south of Baltimore National Pike (Route 40) in the heart of Catonsville. Residents can expect some minimal short-term disturbance as the work proceeds and might be asked to move parked vehicles or reduce their waste water discharge for a few hours while sewer pipes are being relined.

Rolling Road Sewer Construction

Baltimore County closed Rolling Road between Edmondson Avenue and Frederick Road during night hours (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.) on March 6. The road will be closed for six to eight weeks in order to rehabilitate a sewer line. Crews will be working along a one-mile portion of Rolling Road. During nighttime construction hours, residents along Rolling Road will have access; for others, signs will be posted indicating detours around the work area. The contractor plans to work Mondays through Thursdays and some Fridays.

Water Main Replacement

Baltimore County is replacing 7,000 feet of failing cast-iron water main on Maiden Choice Lane between Kenwood Avenue and Wilkens Avenue, and on Kenwood Avenue between Maiden Choice Lane and Wilkens Avenue. The new 12-inch and eight-inch diameter lines will cost $2.3 million. The project is about 80 percent finished. Work is shut down for the winter and will resume in the spring.

Lower Powder Mill Interceptor Rehabilitation

Baltimore County began the rehabilitation of the Lower Powder Mill Sewer Interceptor in April. The line is 5,535 feet long and the project is expected to take more than a year. The estimated cost is $4,625,368 and it is about 87 percent finished—much of the relining has been completed.

Washington Boulevard Water Main

Baltimore County is replacing an old 16-inch diameter water main on Washington Boulevard between Clark Boulevard and the CSX railroad tracks that has been prone to breaking. The project (1,200 feet of new pipe) is about 92 percent complete. The old pipe dates from 1950. The new pipe will cost $400,000.

Powder Mill Relief Sewer

Baltimore County is investing $4,627,585 to improve the sewer system from Liberty Road to Gwynndale Avenue. Work began in September 2019 and is about 95 percent complete. Work is currently on hold until the Lower Powder Mill project is completed, releasing construction crews to complete road work.
