EPS Variances

The Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability (EPS) publishes a list of the environmental administrative variance requests along with their status. The requests are listed by County Council District.

Planning Board Meetings

Planning Board Capital Improvement Program Meetings

The board will meet virtually through Webex as follows:

  • Thursday, January 21, at 4 p.m.—At 4 p.m., the County Executive will present the Capital Improvement Program. At 5:30 p.m., a Capital Improvement Program Presentation will be delivered by the Department of Public Works and Transportation and Transportation and Transportation .
  • Tuesday, January 26, at 5:30 p.m.—Capital Improvement Program Presentations will be delivered by the Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability, the Office of Information Technology, and the Department of Planning.
  • Thursday, January 28, at 5:30 p.m.—Capital Improvement Program Presentations will be delivered by the Department of Recreation and Parks, the Office of Budget and Finance, and Property Management.

Water Main Replacement

This winter, Baltimore County will begin replacing 7,000 feet of failing cast-iron water main on Maiden Choice Lane between Kenwood Avenue and Wilkens Avenue, and on Kenwood Avenue, between Maiden Choice Lane and Wilkens Avenue. The new 12-inch and eight-inch diameter lines will cost $2.3 million.

Lower Powder Mill Interceptor Rehabilitation

This month, Baltimore County will begin the rehabilitation of the Lower Powder Mill Sewer Interceptor. The line that is scheduled to be improved is 5,535 feet long and the project is expected to take more than a year. The estimated cost is $4,625,368.

Washington Boulevard Water Main

Baltimore County is replacing an old 16-inch diameter water main on Washington Boulevard, between Clark Boulevard and the CSX railroad tracks, that has been prone to breaking. The project (1,200 feet of new pipe) is about 15 percent complete and is expected to be finished in the spring. The old pipe dates from 1950. The new pipe will cost $400,000.

Patapsco Sewer Shed Basin 33 Relief Sewer

The Department of Public Works and Transportation and Transportation and Transportation is building a new sewer line south of Interstate 70 in Patapsco Valley State Park. The project, which will take a year to complete, will cost $10,967,777. It is 68 percent finished.

Powder Mill Relief Sewer

Baltimore County is investing $4,627,585 to improve the sewer system from Liberty Road to Gwynndale Avenue. Work began in September 2019 and is about 87 percent complete.

  • To allow the required number of stacking spaces for the full service car wash to be configured in a different pattern than single-file at the entrance to the tunnel;
  • Section 419.3, to allow a total of 28 off-street parking spaces in lieu of the required 34 parking spaces;
  • Section 450.4, table of sign regulations five (enterprise), to allow a total of six wall-mounted enterprise signs on a single tenant commercial building (sign numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6) with a maximum of three signs on any single facade in lieu of the permitted three enterprise signs with no more than two signs on any single facade;
  • Section 450.4, table of sign regulations five (enterprise), (a) to allow directional signs with a sign areas or faces between 8.5 and 39 square feet in lieu of the permitted eight square feet (sign numbers 10 to 16,18 and 19, 22 to 26) and to allow the company name or logo to exceed 30 percent of the total sign area for directional signs;
  • Section 450.4, table of sign regulations five (enterprise), (b) to allow a freestanding enterprise sign with a sign area or face of 96 square feet in lieu of the permitted 75 square feet (sign number 7).
