Olszewski Announces Towson Loop Service to Begin October 12

August 31, 2021

Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski today announced that the Towson Loop is scheduled to begin service on Tuesday, October 12, 2021.

Olszewski jumpstarted plans to bring a free circulator service to Towson’s core destinations and main attractions, fulfilling a major campaign pledge.

“Expanding access to easy, efficient, reliable transit an essential element in our vision for a better Baltimore County,” Olszewski said. “I’m thrilled that we will soon deliver on bringing this long-promised, free transit service that will better connect our neighbors with the places they live, work, study, and play.”

County officials today also announced that Coach USA, one of the largest private ground passenger transportation companies in North America, will operate the Loop service. Under the contract Coach USA, through its subsidiary Dillon’s Bus Service, will operate the County’s 12-vehicle fleet of 25 passenger shuttles that will traverse two routes within Towson.

“Coach USA has a successful track record of partnering with the various stakeholder in the communities we serve to promote wider economic growth through job creation and improved access to safe, affordable and sustainable transportation.” said Bruce Roberts, SVP Business Development. “We are thrilled to have been chosen by Baltimore County to help them deliver on their stated long-term strategic plan to modernize its transportation system and to better connect people with where they live, work, study and play.”

Over the coming weeks, Loop shuttles may be seen on the streets of the Towson as drivers begin their training. In addition, signs will be installed at all stop locations in preparation for the October 12 start of service.
