Olszewski Announces Premium Pay for County Employees amid Continued Service during COVID-19 Pandemic

April 16, 2021

TOWSON, MD — In recognition of the critical services Baltimore County government employees have continued to provide amid the COVID-19 pandemic, County Executive Johnny Olszewski today announced that the County will provide one-time premium pay of $3,000 for first responders, public safety and public health employees as well as one-time premium pay of $1,000 for all other eligible County employees.

These one-time premium payments will be funded through Baltimore County’s American Rescue Plan Act allocation and will be in addition to other steps, increments, and a mid-year cost of living increase announced in Olszewski’s FY22 budget request.

“For more than a year, County workers have consistently and courageously gone above and beyond in serving on the front lines of this crisis,” County Executive Johnny Olszewski said. “The people of Baltimore County are forever grateful for the commitment of County employees to our communities and we’re proud to provide this important recognition of their life-saving efforts.”

First responders and public health employees will include police, fire, EMS, corrections, 911 center employees, Sheriff’s office employees as well as workers in Health and Human Services.

County employees will receive premium pay during the first full pay period of FY22.
