Olszewski Announces Grants to Support Visual and Performing Arts, Humanities, Science and Cultural Organizations

March 16, 2022

TOWSON, MD — Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski announced today that applications are now open for Fiscal Year 2023 Project Grants to support not-for-profit organizations that offer visual and performing arts, science and humanities programs.

Organizations both in and near Baltimore County may apply for grants to support events and programs that take place in Baltimore County. Grant awards can vary from $1000-$9,500.

Application and Eligibility
The Baltimore County Commission on Arts and Sciences project grant applications are now available on the County website, and will be accepted by mail and in person. The deadline for applying is Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 4 p.m.

Grants are awarded based on artistic and educational merit, service to Baltimore County, the region and community, impact on diverse cultural needs of the community, management effectiveness, financial stability, and the extent of outreach to involve new audiences, special constituencies and underserved populations. It is the Commission’s policy not to be the sole source of funding for any grantee.

Some examples of eligible projects include, but are not limited to:

  • Festivals;
  • Film screenings;
  • Exhibitions: art, performances, lectures, classes and workshops;
  • Poetry readings;
  • Dance or theatrical performances or workshops; and
  • Musical concert series (classical, folk, popular).

If an event is virtual, the event organizer must be located in Baltimore County. Live events must take place in Baltimore County, but any organization in the state can apply.

Informational Sessions
The Commission is hosting two informational workshops for potential applicants via Webex on Wednesday, March 23 at 3:00 p.m. and Tuesday, April 5 at 1:00 p.m.

Those interested in participating in a workshop must email artsgrants@baltimorecountymd.gov at least 36 hours ahead of the session to RSVP. Webex information will be sent the day before the workshop.
