Baltimore County Seeks Open Comment for Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Local Area Plan 2020-2024

February 3, 2021

TOWSON, MD — Baltimore County invites public comment on the draft update to the County’s plan for delivering services under the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.

The draft Baltimore County Local Workforce Area Plan 2020-2024(link is external) provides crucial updates to the previous 2016-2020 Baltimore County Local Area Workforce Plan, and identifies a 5-year strategic vision which outlines the County’s efforts to achieve a data-driven workforce system that effectively connects job seekers and workers with employment, education, and training opportunities to help them succeed in the labor market. The plan details strategies to meet employers’ current and projected demand for skilled workers from diverse talent pools.

This plan was developed under the guidance of the Workforce Development Board(link is external) and Baltimore County Department of Economic and Workforce Development. The plan incorporates Maryland’s Benchmarks for Success, federal and state priorities adopted in the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), signed into law July, 2014.
