Baltimore County Seeking Public Input Regarding Hazard Mitigation Plan

February 26, 2021

TOWSON, MD — Baltimore County is seeking public input on its Hazard Mitigation Plan. The Hazard Mitigation Plan identifies potential threats to Baltimore County and lists future projects that may reduce or eliminate damage before a disaster strikes.

Mitigation not only saves lives, but also reduces disaster costs. For every $1 spent on mitigation, more than $6 are saved that would have been used responding to or recovering from disaster.

Input from residents, community members, workers, and business owners will help ensure the success of the County’s hazard mitigation plan and projects. There are a variety of ways community members and stakeholders can participate:

  • Public Survey: Take a short survey(link is external) to provide feedback on concerns regarding local hazards and disaster risk. The survey is only nine questions and takes around four minutes to complete.
  • Mailing List: Join our mailing list(link is external) for hazard mitigation plan updates and more ways you can get involved in the planning process.
  • Follow Us: Follow us on Twitter at @BaltCoEmergency for Hazard Mitigation updates and other emergency preparedness, response, and recovery information.
  • Spread the Word: Tell your Baltimore County family, friends, and neighbors about the plan and how they can help!
  • Reach Out: For questions regarding the plan, email us at emergencymanagement@baltimorecountymd.gov.
